Nailed It

This weekend totally delivered.

Photobucket

It was a gorgeous 80 degrees outside, but I totally faked Fall by closing the windows, cranked up the AC, and got into the kitchen to bake. I didn't have much on hand to create something super spectacular, like cupcakes that look like pumpkins or bread that was lovingly slaved away over in a hot kitchen.

I totally settled on cake from a box. Go me.

Photobucket

And because I'm really awesome at this stuff...I almost forgot to add the eggs.

Thank goodness I recognized my error. I don't even know what eggs do for cooking (see, again...I'm awful at baking), so I can only imagine how bad of a disaster this would have been had those three little eggs gone a missin'.

And how did it taste?

Photobucket

I totally nailed it.

Photobucket

While I was waiting to stuff my face with my newest creation, I enjoyed my flowers and iced chai latte. I do believe that checks "drink a chai latte" off my list. Delish.

Remember how I told you it was beautiful this weekend? I'm pretty sure we lived at the park. I never get tired of watching my little one run off energy and make 30 trips up to the big slide and squeal with laughter as he slowly makes his way down to the ground.

Seriously. It never.gets.old.

Sometimes I get out from behind the camera for a few shots just to make it into the family album. These were so worth it.

And sometimes Bear Bear needs some extra attention and lovin'. Tristan gladly obliged.

I love him.

Our date night on Friday consisted of s'mores in the backyard. Best idea ever. I may have eaten three. And I only lit two of the marshmallows on fire. I'm really bad about that. I'm so impatient that I stick it way to close to the flames and the whole thing goes up in smoke.

Wow he's handsome!

Speaking of things going up in smoke...my poor plant didn't make it. Proabably because I forgot to water it. Fail.

Photobucket

Happy hump day. Don't let your week go up in smoke. Take some time for yourself and do something you really enjoy. And take a picture of it. Sweet memories are good memories.

A Whole Lotta Nothin

October is finally here. I love this month. It may have something to do with the fact that it's my birthday month. Or that every year around this time I desire to get in the kitchen and bake bread. Or maybe it's because I switch out all my candles and put out new scents that include names like, "Caramel Apple" and "Autumn Wreath".

Photobucket

October is where it's at.

It's also a time when everyone seems to catch a cold. Maybe it's the sudden drop in temperature, or that everyone is running to get their flu shot (and I SWEAR that makes everyone sick). Anyway, I've got two sickies at home this week. Chris, who never, ever, ever gets sick...is sick. And then there's Bubby. Poor kiddo. He lost his voice and has a deep chest cough. If there's anything that throws my confident "Mama can handle this" vibe out the window, it's a sick baby. I become clueless and frantic over a runny nose. I'm sure the more kids we have, the less frantic I'll be, but for now...I really hate it when my lovies are sick.

Not much has gone on this week. I took some pictures for a friend and her family and let me tell you it was so much fun! She has a remarkable family and I think at one point I asked if they would adopt me. Here's a few shots from the beach shoot.

And because editing all these pictures took up my week, I didn't get a whole lot of shots of normal life around here. The only ones in my camera were of the day Tristan got his new fire truck. He loves it...and I'm ready to chuck it out the window because it's annoying. Who wants to hear sirens and beeping all the time? I really didn't think this toy purchase through.

Photobucket

Photobucket

And on a side note, I really need an iPhone.

Photobucket

And on another side note, we had this insane storm last week that I swear was a tornado in disguise. I've never felt my house shake like that, except during the hurricane. Nutty. Nutty, I tell you.

Photobucket

Alright. Back to life again. This weekend promises tons of fun with pumpkin picking and chai lattes. Maybe I'll even bake some bread. Or just watch Chris do it since I probably shouldn't be allowed near my oven.

Have a happy weekend.

Pinned

Hi. Sorry I haven't written in a couple of weeks. Sometimes life sneaks up on me, and these past two weeks have been a little nuts. So, I apologize and will try to get back on track with a one-a-week post.

Maybe. Hopefully. I'll try really hard.

Alright. Well, my husband is pretty much a rockstar and along with starting his own company, working a second job, finishing his degree, he also is a Reservist in the military and was pinned for Chief.

Geez. What an overachiever. :)

This was a very awesome moment. Chris's dad flew in from Minnesota to watch his son's pinning, and my heart was very full when I was able to stand there next to him and pin the anchors to his uniform.

Photobucket

Photobucket

I totally dropped the backing piece to the anchors. It was embarrassing as I stood in front of 200 people and watched it roll across the carpet. Oops.

Photobucket

Congratulations, lover. I'm so very proud of you!

It was so much fun having Grandpa here. Tristan loved playing with Dan everyday, and these were just some of the fun memories we captured on camera.

And this is my absolute favorite sequence of shots. It totally captures what life is like with Tristan.

Happy Wednesday. I'm off to drink more coffee. Enjoy your week and tell someone in your life how proud you are of them. It makes Wednesdays more enjoyable.
