SEAL Reunion 2009 Demonstration

(Written by: Chris)

The day started off overcast and rainy but the skies cleared up just in time for the SEAL capabilities demonstration for the 2009 Navy SEAL reunion. My mom came with us and she got to see the show for the first time. The captain of the Mersk (the ship that was hijacked by pirates) was also there to watch. These first pictures were at the start of the show as some of the SEALs jumped in with an american flag and a wreath for all the SEALs who have died over the years. There were also demonstrations of SEALs fastroping and SPIE rigging from the bottom of a helecoptor They also demonstrated all of the different boats that the SEAL teams use for operations. The picture above has two snipers hiding in the sand ready to shoot the target. The video we took of it was too long to upload on the computer, but the SEALs were dressed in guilly suits and climbed out of the sand when they were done. Totally awesome to see!

Overall the day was really fun and it was great to catch up with friends we haven't seen in a year. We can't wait for next year!

  1. I'll bet this brought back lots of memories. It's too bad more people don't have the opportunity to see how we are being protected.

  2. I was searching for SPIE rigging for a novel I'm writing about SEALs and came upon this. Great post. Thanks for sharing. SEALs are amazing. It's why I write about them.
